Using dreamweaver to create the html
« on: October 10, 2010, 05:09:52 am »
Thought I'd worked this out but I haven't.

I made my pages in dreamweaver and previewing in browser shows all images, etc.  When I place the vode in the page editor, my images don't show.

Here is a sample

<div align="center"><a href="http://www.prettysims.com/public_html/Themes/Pretty Sims Theme/images/Aberfeldy/Header.jpg"><img src="images/Aberfeldy/Header.jpg" alt="header" width="1200" height="100" border="0" /></a></div>

Now when I put that into the page editor this bit disappears on save

http://www.prettysims.com/

all fair and well but the images don't show.  I have tried everyway I can to get them to show and got some loaded up onto photobucket and the link worked to there.  I would rather have them on my own server though and they are, I use core ftp to upload them and I can see the images on the server, exactly where the link leads.  In case I had coded wrong, I used the properties box in dreamweaver to browse for the files in my folder for my site and still no images show up.

Any ideas?  Can't I use dreamweaver to create the code?  I am using tables if that's an issue

what do you mean wait?  I waited for ages and nothing happened, ended up linking the images with photobucket which is not a good think.

How long do I have to wait?

You can use dream just post the html code into editor in html mode/button.

That html code looks wrong

Should probably be
http://www.prettysims.com/Themes/Pretty Sims Theme/images/Aberfeldy/Header.jpg

But i can't get either of them to load the image.

No you won't see them show up.  Like I said I tried every which way I could with the code and that's just one version of it you saw there.  I even contacted host gator and the guy there said the images are where they should be and there should be no problem.

Now I find that I have just spent two days on two pages, one as the portal homepage.  In the editor (oh yeah, that's the html editor that you get to through the html button, I know about that, read the forum first).  Anyway, two days, a years work on the item I'm trying to show and the portal homepage won't show up either.  I've been waiting for it to show for over an hour.

I think what's happening here is that the mod just isn't working, I don't seem to be able to do anything with it other than html blocks which are unpredictable too.  The only thing that I can think of that could affect this type of thing is the ultimate profile mod, I'll try disabling it and see what happens, but I doubt it's that and think there's something far wrong here

Nope. it wasn't that

I thought maybe I had too many upgrades to exportal in there so I removed them all and installed the latest one.  Now I can't have my ad block as it shows up twice, my site is completely stuffed up and I didn't even get to do what I wanted, it's been a long day.  Weirdest thing, I even went back to my backup of the site from yesterday, so why now is the mod still installed twice, yet it isn't on the list twice?  If I uninstall it, the block for it in admin is still there.

Have you tried using a different theme? I've noticed a lot of themes don't work properly with EZ Portal.

The theme I'm using is the core theme but just with recolours, it should affect this mod.  I'm more concerned right now that I have two versions of it and can't delete them.  I can't show my ads because they show up twice.

The project I wanted this for is now past it's date and ezportal was a bust in helping me do what I wanted to do, it failed.

I'm still stuck with the doube ezportal stuff on the bottom of my page though and really annoyed I can't show my ads.  When I uninstall the mod and reistall, it shouldn't have left remnants that would cause this.

I don't have any blocks enabled yet it says twice at the bottom of my page, powered by ezportal, even when I uninstall the mod it still shows as if I still have it
