Title: Installing EzPortal for SMF 2.0 RC3
Post by: AntoH on October 28, 2010, 10:46:35 am
Hi I have been trying to install EzPortal on my SMF forum but I keep getting this problem when installing the package.

"You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!"

Even though I have allowed everything CHMOD 777 everything to be sure yet I am getting it. This is really frustrating me and would really appreciate if someone could give me some help.

That's something I am not good at helping with sounds like a general SMF package manager issue I would try asking on simplemachines.org

I would contact the Web hosting provider first and see if you are allowed. and or if there may be a problem there.

Another thing I'd like to ask, did you install the package through your admin> package manager? If so then you may want to delete the EzPortal zip on you local Drive then down load the latest one and start all over with the install of the portal package.

Did you set the 755 permission through you FTP client?

Note that if you install the package through or VIA FTA, that's not the way!

regards,
Maxx

Never mind I found a fix for anyone who has same problem all you have to do is create a folder in your packages folder called temp and chmod it to 777 and it fixes the problem.
