Is there a way to make your portal HOME page read www.mypage.com/index.php instead of www.mypage.com/forums/ and my main forums read www.mypage.com/forums/ instead the default???

When you install SMF onto a paid host you get to choose the name for the forum e,g, /forum, /smf. You choose it when you setup a Mysql Database
