I run a few very simple non-profit websites and a simple forum (SMF) for an association of towns. My users are not very IT savvy, and don't go for flashy things. I do all my own hard-coding for our websites (php).

Through an SMF forum, I saw a nice feature where eZportal added a block with "random featured images" to a forum front page. So I installed eZportal also, my first portal. Whatever else portals do, until now I do not need them but maybe for some joint projects it could be nice, if I can figure out how to work with them.

Started looking for some instructions how to work with this and ended upon a blank wall.      

I only found very basic "how to install" instructions and then a forum full of very detailed specific questions. What I am missing is a very simple "this is how you can use eZportal and this is how you do it". Does that exist at all or is everything here auto-didactic?
