EZPortal - in Google Chrome?
« on: February 23, 2009, 11:39:48 pm »
Hey all -

Am new to EzPortal - but not SMF or SMFHacks...

I just set up a new site running SMF 2.0RC1 and using the ESDO theme (SMFgrup.com) or I think that's the link to them...

Anyway - After I installed EzPortal - I did not have it showing on my forum page - as it just got too polluted... but it did skew my page to like 6000 pix wide!!

I had some video going on my "main page" so removed those, thinking that might be causing it... but that did not solve my problem -

Either way, I uninstalled EzPortal and my forum went back to norm... so  -- by process of elimination kinda figured in was the portal causing this problem -

Couple days passed - I tried some other 2.0 Portals out there - both failed to even load, so came back to EzPortal - and now it seems to be working OK... However, when I view my FORUM with Google's Chrome, that same problem happens again - my SMF forum is scattered totally wide...

I've run it on FF, IE7 and IE8, Safari, Opera and now Chrome... They all do fine, except Chrome.. :(

Anyone else have experience with this - and maybe a fix??

Check it out here... www.f-1chat.com - and then load the forum in CHROME http://f-1chat.com/forum/index.php?action=forum

Thanks-

PS:

Just FYI - I'm trying a new theme out... to see if that helps... just loaded now... but haven't looked in Chrome yet - but will update if that was the problem (old template, vs. ezportal)

Cheers

Wow that is strange might be a bug with chrome itself..

It's also happening with Safari (within Mac) -- and it's kinda driving me nuts :-)

Thankfully, most my visitors are using FireFox or IE (Gag) - but those two are working fine...

That said, I've done some more testing and research since I first posted this... and it turns out it's not the theme that is causing this - in fact, I just switched it to the default, and it's skewing off the page (very very wide) with the SMF core theme... :(

So, I can only say it's ezportal - and it's only on the Forum INDEX page... for if you go to the actual article - it shows fine... it's when you try to pull up the board INDEX it skews...

I see you're online (Admin) as I write this... If you get a moment, can you please visit my site (www.f-1chat.com) both the main portal index - as well as the forum index  in either Safari or Chrome  and give me your thoughts?

FORUM INDEX is: http://f-1chat.com/forum/index.php?action=forum
Site is: http://f-1chat.com/forum/index.php

Thanks for any advice you may have -

OK, I figured it out...

Regardless of any template you're using, for whatever reason... while using ezportal in Safari or Chrome, WITH "Show Recent Posts" (bottom) enabled (I had it set at 20) - it was skewing everything..

I set "Show Recent Posts" to ZERO - and now it formats fine! :)

Mystery solved.... but suspect there's a bug in there somewhere :(

Also, I noticed, again, regardless of template, if you were looking at a post - and then clicked the directory/tree to go back to the main topic, it would jettison you to the portal main page... (basically take you out of forum) - so - for whatever that's worth....

Other than that... I'm still figuring out all the features with ezportal - makes inserting HTML and such a snap!

Thanks -

Just to add to this...
Enabling 'Show Recent Posts' on a forum without EZPortal formats fine
Enabling 'Show Recent Posts' on a forum WITH EZPortal causes the above
So I suspect there's something in EZPortal that Chrome does not like when 'Show Recent Posts' is enabled.
Hope this gets looked at, because I like having it on my forums.

I have also noticed this as well.

I tried Chrome for awhile and there are plenty of sites not showing correctly, so I discontinue its use.  Also tried IE8 and it has its own problems although not with my ezPortal sites. I s'pect there are bugs that needs fixing so I am back with IE7.

I enabled five recent posts on this board and viewed it in Chrome did not see anything unusual.
