this is a curve based theme....  with the responsive mod applied...

unfortunately, the CSS does not appear to play nicely....

Kindred trying copying the ezportal.css file from the themes/default/css folder to
http://www.askawitchcommunity.org/Themes/Curve_Minimal_Multicolor_2/css/

Looks like it is looking for it there.

Can I just apply the update OVER the old one or do I have to do the uninstall/reinstall?

Try but I think I have the same package-info id so you may need to uninstall.

never mind -- just did the uninstall/reinstall.

That looks better now. :)

I think, however, that the "newsest member" pre-defined block has some screwy content....   if messes up the block above it when it is present.

hmmm.... same thing happens with the top poster's block...

perhaps the issue is with the "PHP block" above it... but the code in there looks clean to me.
Title: Re: EZPortal Beta 3.1
Post by: Kindred on September 19, 2015, 09:41:38 am
ah.... another problem.

it is not respecting the "right column" settings.

on both http://www.askawitchcommunity.org/index.php?action=forum and http://www.40konline.com/index.php?action=forum
the right column does not hide on the forum display, like it used to...
Title: Re: EZPortal Beta 3.1
Post by: Kindred on September 19, 2015, 09:45:55 am
hmmm again... the right column itself is not being displayed -- but the center column is FIXED at 70% - so it does not expand to fill in the space, if the column is hidden
Title: Re: EZPortal Beta 3.1
Post by: Kindred on September 20, 2015, 01:01:05 pm
ummm.... Wow.

There are a lot of things wrong with this implementation.

first and foremost -- the implementation assumes that all three columns are always present
second -- because of first, it FORCES the columns to be 15%, 70% and 15%  -- regardless of what the settings are in EZPortal admin and regardless of what content is in there.

third -- removing the 70% from the center content does not work -- one would assume that with 15% defined to the left and 15% defined to the right - removing the FORCED size form the center column would just take whatever remaining space was available. Unfortunately this is not so -- without SEPCIFICALLY 15/70/15, the content drops below the left column -- and looks like complete crap.

Basically - the work done to make this responsive is making it look worse than the original table (which actually did handle the decreasing screen size correctly) -- and seems to ignore the settings of the clocks and columns

I think I need more details on this "a lot of things", while you only said only one thing and w/o asking the reason to do it. We did it for a reason to have a base ground (its ignoring because modern browsers are ignoring the width, it should be style="width: <stuff>;". As you can see the feature of giving width to a column is not removed.

Since I don't have any permission to attach files here (dunno why).

As far as the panels go I have my center set to 100% and the left right at approx 18%, once the left and right are close the center goes to 100% of the content: I have it set up it the smf 2.l Beta if you'll like ti check out. sorry been busy doing themes and studying code other CMS stuff, ;last time I checked on my windows phone, the panels close, but  have not check with this update.

http://www.buildandtell.com/index.php?action=forum (http://www.buildandtell.com/index.php?action=forum)

I will check again in morning on the smf 2.0.11.
We know there are issues but, in some ways more advance thinking on today's trends. and improvement are being done on a regular basses. :)

Glad to see some concerns and feed back though :)

Ok, just and FYI for Ez!

On the Columns or panels, toying with though on the SMF 2.0.11, I found that the only one that does play nice is the right side.

Setting the Center at 80% to 100% works fine setting the right at 16% - 19 % and the center will go to 100 percent while closing the left and right sides.

The Left side shrinks at any width setting, when all are open or on!
although there may be other issues with the center, it can be set at 100% if you like and left will work fine at your 18+ percent setting!

http://smf.surfacethemes.com/index.php (http://smf.surfacethemes.com/index.php)

Not a fix :) just a test result and a somewhat of a temp work around !

Maxx

But you are not using 3.1 Beta ? Its old "table" template version. FYI you cannot do the width changes with php or css, it needs JS to add extra class and that also pretty much needs inline styling because of changeable widths.

In theory it needs three classes, left_collapsed / right_collapsed / both_collapsed. Javascript needs to determine which one collapsed or both collapsed, then apply the following class to center block.

.left_collapsed { width: left_width+center_width; padding-left: 0; }
.right_collapsed { width: right_width+center_width; padding-right: 0; }
.both_collapsed { width: 100%; padding: 0; }

Here's the deal...

I have my column SETTING set to 25%, 60% and 15%
the new mod version (on 2.0.11) ignored those settings and FORCES 15/70/15
That same 15/70/15 STAYS in place even if there are no blocks to be shown and the columns is set to be hidden.

This is WRONG!
I only want the right column to display on the homepage.
On every forum page, I want the right column GONE and the center content to expand all the way to the right.
Additionally, I want the mod to RESPECT the settings that I define for width of the columns - without having to edit the CSS directly.

if I change the middle column to ANYTHING except exactly width: 70%, the content drops down below the left column (which is unusable)  I tried min-width:70% and it dropped down.
http://www.askawitchcommunity.org/index.php?action=forum

I have forced the right column to go away (display: none) on 40konline.com in order to make the site usable...  but that's a kludge, not a solution.

interestingly enough -- if I *HIDE* the left column with the toggle button, the center column correctly collapses to the left...  but it does not increase in width to fill the space up to the right column....

(when I say, there are a lot of thing wrong....  what I actually meant is there is one major thing wrong that has a lot of trickle down to affect a half-dozen display things.  In short, it does not display correctly)

I actually explained the situation and packed you an updated files. Second one needs some work I agree.

edit: After tests, there is more to do on this issue. Even fixing the issue kindred pointed, it breaks the other variations.

Antes,

First ... again thanks for helping us on this!
I upload the 2 files you posted, and there seems to be some issues still.

Not complaining and the center is making progress,. However at times the center disappears and the right block falls down below the main content...

I will see if I can find something in the CSS or the template, may possibly be missing a
Code: [Select]
</div>
But I'll check this later.

I tried on the default as well same thing!

Maxx

The latest thing I attached here (then removed) is very good solution for Kindred, but if someone hide left-block and keep right one then things get worse, center block fills left but keeps right white-space left there and the right block goes down.
Title: Re: EZPortal Beta 3.1
Post by: Antes on September 23, 2015, 04:23:25 pm
Well this should work :D

Just a small note; even the center block gets 100% (virtually) you'll see some left-right inconsistency that's because of padding. At this moment I don't have a solution for that, not sure if its a huge problem.

Try collapsing sidebars - remove one of the sidebar from specific action-page etc... I need more real-life data to "make sure" its working properly :P
Title: Re: EZPortal Beta 3.1
Post by: Maxx on September 23, 2015, 05:16:34 pm
on the forum mode, all is stable closing either left or right and center goes to 100%

In the front page mode, closing left or right separately, will expand the left or right a bit more and center flows with the changes. and center goes to 100% with both side closed on the Front page.

Not a biggy for me anyway. :)

if I shrink the browser same thing looking good on both!

Responsive OK!

I'll check on various browser sizing soon!

they may be work against each other some how!

They won't, the reason we didn't include responsive mod inside ezPortal because of the responsive themes are getting more and more and that will create the conflict. But if you are using default theme of SMF 2.0.x you should install responsive mod to make sure everything working properly.

Its nearly 3 am here I'm heading to bed, I'll catch up tomorrow :)

Hey,

I Have a question, I've been running Ex-Portal for about 10-12 Months, In the beginning everything was great, But as Time has gone by it seems it's "Self Destructing", at first it was this (see screenshot):

I've had "Top Rated Downloads" and "Most Downloads" for about 10 months, but now, If I click the link in the block I get:

Code: [Select]
Method Not Implemented

GET to /index.php not supported.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

So Now I've decided to go with the Responsive Curve which has led me here... I've download 3.1 and the patch found here and The Latest Responsive curve...

And In the next day or to will be installing on localhost to check it out.....

But before I do This I would like to Totally Uninstall Ez-Portal/Blocks (Including all Stored in the Database), and Re-Install.

Could you Advise a way that I could do this and Completely Remove Ez-Porta/Blocksl, for a COMPLETE clean Install?

Thanks,

Mike

GET to /index.php not supported.

Sounds like a mod_security issue ask your host to turn if off on your site.

Title: Re: EZPortal Beta 3.1
Post by: Miker1029 on November 13, 2015, 07:59:44 am
Ok I tried adding the suggestion and It didn't work on that....

I was curious so I went to "My Files" and checked the links, Dunno if it matters But the Link for "My Files" is : http://****************/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=157

And the one in the Download System Top Rated Block Is: http://****************/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;id=1

And particular reason why it'd be happening Just in the DL System Blocks?

And Anything on the User Info Field Being Misplaced??

AND as it stands I can't/won't redo my downloads list in the DB, as I have almost 200 Files linked and that's a process a REALLY Don't want to do (again)....

So If I can clear up these 2 things, and Just install 3.1 over-top??

Or Remove/Install, I did see in the posts here someone suggested remove and reinstall.....

Thanks for the Help

Mike

P.S. I'll drop a ticket to my provider on that GET Thing, But I'm really thinking that's not it, I have recently, in the last couple days, Install httpBL, and Stop Spammers, But Don't think that would throw an error just for Download Blocks....

Ya after reading the linked article I Have :

Code: [Select]
<IfModule mod_security.c>
# Turn off mod_security filtering.
SecFilterEngine Off

# The next part below probably is not needed, but better safe than sorry.
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
# BEGIN
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

In my .htaccess and now it reloads the index.php on link click, as the article stats, I'm writing my host now, as they really should advise of changes like this, as this has worked for a long, LONG, time....

Will Update on this 1 issue when I get results...

Ok, Small Update,

    I have successfully installed the Beta + Patch, And Added Responsive Curve B5, Looks good on my Android, Except the left Block Is at the TOP and the right Block is at the bottom, Gonna leave for now as I understand the Reposition that was mentioned earlier.... Otherwise all went well....

On the GET Error I haven't heard back from my host, But On LOCALHOST it worked fine, So I can Pretty Much Guarantee You are correct in that....

Now Would anyone know about the Mislocation Of The User Field (As Shown In my Screenshot above), as even with the Complete uninstall of Ez-Portal, And re-Install, It still remains.....

Ok, Not sure if this was my install or if it's a bug, But I'm Getting :

{
return;

The Error Line is: "$context['html_headers'] .= '<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="' . $settings['default_theme_url'] . '/css/ezportal.css?fin20" />';"

I've Checked My Avatar Settings, and repair_settings.php and everything seems in order, I click the link and it brings up my avatar....

EDIT: Another Bug?

I went in and Re-Did My Portal Locations/Arrangements (Since I Found the Hide On Mobile), And It worked Great, Except I Have my Recent Posts set to Show ONLY on the Actual Boards, So For Visible options I Went In And Checked all the Boards in My Forum, And It seems to be Over riding the Hide On Mobile Setting.... Works Fine On The Computer, The Left and Right side Bars Everywhere else are not displaying on the Mobile, Just when I go Into My Boards where I have the Boards Checked.

On the Side Bars Showing in a line on the bottom of the page when SHOW on ALL is checked in Visible, and HIDE on Mobile is on:

I Did some reformatting of the side and Basically set the Side bars by Hand, and Without the show on all checked, It removes them on the Mobile.

Onto the next problem.  When I make a "ParseBBCODE" Block, The Editor actually Performs the Action in the editor, So If I Highlight all the text and Change the Size it Actually DOES it, Not set the BBCODE to do it when Parsed...

Reason it mainly got me for a long time is my OLD BB Blocks that had the editor as an editor, I'd load up to change and didn't see nothing but squeagily lines, Till I realized it was the same as the background color.

And Idea On how to Get the Old Editor Back?

If the theme is already responsive there is no reason to have the responsive curve file.
The 404 error's is because the curve resposive mod responsive.css file is missing in your custom theme area.
