Brand New to building forums and websites...
« on: June 01, 2009, 07:00:39 am »
I downloaded the ez-portal application, I am using SMF 1.1.9.

On the admin panel it give me three options setting, ezblock manager, page manager. I am now familiar with what ezblocks are.

However here are my problems...

1) When I go into settings and enable hompage... all I see is my logo and tabs... how do I/ where do I modify this "homepage" so that I may have whatever graphics or anything that I want on this "homepage"?

2) The page manager... ok I can create a page, and make is visible to everyone thru the permssions...but when I go out and look at the forums.... there is no page.. where do I find it... how does this work? what am I doing wrong.

I appreciate your responses and please keep in mind I have really no clue what I am doing, and I am learning by trying and saying shoot that didnt work or cool I did it..

Some instructions for new people would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

1. You need to add ezBlocks to your main page found under block manager.

2. The pages are not linked to any place by default you will need to use the links either on the forum pages themselves or place them inside an ezBlock which can do using the ezBlock Manager.

Are you talking about your logo at the top of the forum?  You first need to create(make, design,) your logo, as a banner.  Upload this image to you root of your site.  Create a folder in cPanel, named it 'images' and upload your banner there.  Copy the url and paste that in your admin section of your forum for SMF.  This is under, current theme, you will see a empty text where this goes.

Adding other images is more complex and except for the basis insert code, need to know where you want an image.
