Title: Direct HTML editing in Pages.
Post by: donjoe on September 21, 2009, 11:12:26 pm
I've tried again to start migrating my old website to this new portal platform and I was disappointed to discover that pasting HTML into the Page edit box has no effect - it's all shown as plain-text. It seems I have to use the rich controls to create every table/paragraph/etc. manually and it would take me ages to move all my content this way. I'd like to have the option to just paste HTML in that box and have it interpreted as HTML when it reaches the user's browser (and hopefully without having it all boxed into a <TABLE> smaller than width=100%).

Please include this in the next release. :)
Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand what you're after... but did you try just shoving it all in an HTML ezBlock?

Nope, an ezBlock doesn't help, because I want to have many different non-forum pages selectable from a menu on the left. There's no obvious way to do this with ezBlocks (right now), so I want to do it with Pages.

Ah, okay. Thought I'd just throw it out there... and while I am, did you try using the menu option? Then you could link directly to the webpage you are after...

Again, I'm pretty sure I've no idea what you mean [lol] so feel free to eye roll :P

What do you mean by "the menu option"? Please speak ezBoard-ish. :)

If you mean the "Menu Block" available as an ezBlock, that one only allows links to standard forum pages, whereas I want my own pages in the left-side menu.

Lol, sorry. Okay. Yes, I was speaking of that.

What do you mean by "standard forum pages"?

I have it linking to the Forum, my Website, a friends website, the Online listing and a page created with the ezPortal page thingy...

I mean Forum Home, Forum Search, Forum Profile, Forum Members etc.

What I want linked are several custom Pages. The forum stuff is already available on the horizontal menu at the top, I don't need it replicated at the left.

How did you do the "my Website, a friend's website" and "a page created with the ezPortal page thingy" parts? :)

Add Menu Item - >

Menu Title = the name of the link
Menu Link = page URL

Open in new window yes/no

Visibility options - [Un]Check member groups.

That's all I did. And it works fine for me.

Aaahh, thanks. I didn't see it at first because it's not present in the "Menu Block" adding process, you can only see it after the "Menu Block" is added when you go to [Edit]. :)

Anyway, this still doesn't solve my problem of quick copy-pasting of HTML markup from Page to Page.

LE:
Stupid me, the rich-editing interface for Page creation has an "HTML" button that allows me to do exactly what I said I wanted. ;D
Please close this topic or mark it as "solved" or something. :)
