Sample XML for built-in blocks
« on: February 08, 2012, 09:47:58 pm »
Is there a place where I can get sample XML for built-in blocks or should I just modify the php code to accomplish what I need? What determines which parameters show up on the selection screen vs ignored parameters?

Thanks,
Alan

Let me clarify what I want to do. The recent topics is exactly what I want but I would like a dropdown box for the board so it is filtered by that board. That is it. It is great btw.

There is no xml for the installed blocks since they are built in. Basiclly the builtin blocks calls a function that is in ezPortal and passes the parameters.

The function is installed using the ezPortalInstall.php code inserted into the database a built in block.

You can tweak the php code and I think would be the best way for you to go.

Thanks. That helped out a lot. I think I read most posts but didn't see that level of information. i will proceed along that route.

Any tips for playing with the database for the editable paramters or should it be fairly transparent?

I would look at the install script has examples of adding parameters and upgrading existing blocks with additional parameters/features.
