I had a similar problem.  I can't recall how I solved it.  Will let you know.

This is not a solution to the modules download problem, I never got it to work the way they meant for it to.  I went to the SMSHacks web site

Download the hack or mod from their site to your computer, then, in your forum's admin section, go to the download package manager, and browse to the place on your computer, and select the mod and upload it.  OK, now this is NOT an EZPortal block, although you can choose an EZPortal block for some of them. 

Staff will appear as a button on the default theme.  Articles, gallery, contact page, all will have a button for the default theme.  Choosing the EZPortal EZBlock for the corresponding module is self explanatory. 

Maybe EZPortal Admin will be on later to give you more help.  I would like to be able to use the download module feature as it was meant to work, myself.
