EzBlocks?
« on: October 29, 2009, 07:23:59 am »
I've tried and tried to get the TOP EzBlock to display a header on my site but without success :( I've tried both PHP and HTML blocks and nothing seems to display anything....

I think it's probably me doing something wrong, but I have no idea what it is - Can anyone help?

Just a quick example to show how to display a line of text in a TOP block would probably get me off on the right track....

Regards
Eddy

For the top/bottom ezBlocks are disabled by default.
To enable them click on the edit column link next to "Top" then set the column to enabled.

I haven't looked at the bottom block yet, but when I create a TOP block it IS ENABLED by default - At least that what it shows in Admin....

Enable the column, IT is disabled by default.  On your EZPortal page, looked at the top menu bar for each set of blocks, left, center, right, top and the bottom.  Ok, at the top of the menu bar for each, you will see column, click it and you will be taken to the setup for that column.  You will see where it said, No to enable.  Drop down menu will revealed yes, and there you are.

Sorry Marian, but on my setup every block is ENABLED by default - As soon as I create one it says "Enabled YES".... That includes the Top and Bottom blocks.

Eddy

Not the blocks, the columns. Look again, admin/ezportal/ezportal blocks/ it is on this page.

Now find left- edit column which situated on the upper left menu bar.
Then center_edit column

etc.  I'll be right here.

As I said, it is enabled by default Marian..... Look at the attached image, and see the TOP edit column.

Thanks, we will get through this but I still think you are misunderstanding.  Did you click on that word, Edit?  If not do so.  Now for the left, center and right, the column is enable but the newly added columnsm top & bottom, are not.  Try it and let me know.

I see now where you are confused.  That is telling you that the block is enable, not the column, click 'edit' at the top, and you will go to a different page where it can be enabled.

After clicking Edit, there is only the following screen Marian, no sign of anything to "Enable" - Just a text edit box, the page name, and Permissions etc...

I must be missing something somewhere?

Here is your picture with the arrow pointing to the words, right-edit column, you are still editing the block and not the column.

AHA!! Magic - That's it Marian, hopefully now I can get it to work...

Us mere men aren't the brightest animals on the planet as I'm sure you know! :)

Many many thanks for taking the time to help me get to the bottom of this problem, I really appreciate it. But it's now coming up to 11pm here, so almost time for bed.

Eddy

I have the columns labeled better in the next update so you can tell at a glance if they are enabled or not.

That's great - It did confuse me totally I have to admit!

BTW, I'm never sure wether to call you SMF, EzPortal or vbgamer? What is your real name, or is that a trade secret? Sorry but I HATE handles! :)

Eddy
