ez cache folder
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:12:20 am »
Two things I think I am having problems with.   First off I just upgraded my forum to SMF 2.02 yesterday.  I deleted out the tiny portal I had been using and installed EZPortal 0.5.2.

I got no warnings during the install but have not really inserted any blocks or done anything with it at this point in time.

Problem 1 is that I get a warning on the settings page that says

Warning your ezcache folder is not writable! For best performance we suggest having the cache folder writable.

I am not the brightest candle on the birthday cake when it comes to this stuff and don't have the slightest idea so a little detail on how to do this would be great.  It it is not important to change it then knowing that would help as well.

PROBLEM # 2

On the "Block Manager" page I get an "X" for a broken graphic link where something should be.  I have attached a screen shot.  I don't see this as a big deal since it just appears to be a graphic but if this is a sign there are problems with my installation and I should uninstall and reinstall let me know.

The second part of my Problem 2 is that the top and bottom blocks are marked "Disabled"  How do I enable them?   Sorry, I should have caught that in my screen shot but didn't notice in time.

#1 You do not have to worry about currently not used but to remove error make the following folder writeable
ezportal/ezcache/

#2. Will look into that issue.

Thanks,

I tried to change the permissions in the permissions seciton of SMF and it doens't seem to want to let me do that.  Not sure why but it just resets itself to not writable.
