Title: Problems with Pages used as Custom Actions in v0.3.0.
Post by: donjoe on September 07, 2009, 05:52:34 am
I want to use a Left-column block as a menu - to change what blocks are displayed on the Center column - and I'm thinking I could do this by creating different (empty) Pages, adding each one as a Custom Action, then assigning my different blocks to be Visible only on the desired Pages.

One problem is that it doesn't work. :) I've added a Page (visible only to the Admin), then added its URL as a Custom Action for ezBlocks, then added an ezBlock that's only Visible on that Page-Action, yet when I visit the Page URL the ezBlock doesn't show.

The second problem is that now I can't delete the new Custom Action. While the corresponding Page existed, the [delete] link just took me to the Administration homepage without deleting it. Now that I've removed the Page the [delete] link takes me to an error page saying that the Page doesn't exist. And I can't re-create it either, because the numbers at the end of the URLs of any new Pages I create keep being incremented and I'll never get "p=2" again. :D

I'll probably have to go in manually somewhere to get rid of this. Where are the Custom Actions stored?

Thanks.

Confirmed going to add checks not to allow full urls.
The feature was meant to add custom actions of the following type

shop
gallery

etc but not
http://www.forum.com/index.php?action=myaction
or
?action=myaction;anothervariable=value

Well, it's OK, since I've found a different way to do what I wanted, i.e. by copy-pasting the desired ezBlocks layout (including the left-side Menu) into the HTML encoding of every new custom Page I want to link to. This is better in many ways, as it allows me far more control than a Menu Block would. The only disadvantage is that I have to change all the Pages manually whenever I want to add/remove/change a universal block (not specific to any Page, a marginal block shown on all Pages).

See here (only one custom page so far): www.atei.ro
